What are the best CAD Softwares for a Mechanical Engineer Fresher in India 2021

Want to learn CAD softwares for getting college placements or job in the design field or R&D department in India! Are you confused in a lot of CAD/CAM/CAE softwares in the mechanical engineering field, which one should you learn, which is the best? looking for a one single line Answer.

But today a lot of CAD/CAM?CAE softwares are available in the market, like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA, PTC Creo,  Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Ansys, Hypermesh, Ls-Dyna, ADAMS, Simulia, Abaqus, Nastran, Cypcut laser CNC etc so it's a bit difficult to choose which softwares should you learn for getting nice job easily in India, and also considering future aspect.

So the clear cut Answer is :-

It depends on which type of companies are you targeting for job purpose in India..and you must know a one 2d and 3d category software at least.

But  AutoCAD 2d  is the software which you can't skip, you should have a knowledge of it at least. This one is like a must have or kind of compulsory for all if you want to entry in Mechanical Design field. Now lets talk about other 3d CAD and CAE softwares.

CASE:- 1

If you are from a third grade engineering College or just want to have a job . You should learn these two softwares at least AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Because in tier three colleges no MNC comes to hire students for design and research field. so you should learn a software which is balanced and in high demand.

SolidWorks is not only the best balanced CAD software but also in high demand and easy to learn and advanced dynamic assembly and motion simulations make you fall in love with it. It is being used by all types of companies from tier 3 to tier 1 company uses it.

CASE:- 2

If You are from a tier 2 and tier 1 college, MNC companies comes to hire students in your college placements. So you should choose a specific company to go with it, so you should learn according to it.

In this case CATIA can help you, it is being used by aerospace industries and automobiles company and also government organizations like ISRO and many more.

CATIA is well known for its surface modelling and accuracy, however you may not like the graphics and user interface of the software as it from 90's , but its the most expensive CAD software and I'm not wrong to say this. After SolidWorks, CATIA comes in 2nd place in demand for jobs, in my opinion.

You Can also learn PTC Creo and Siemens NX, these are also great and powerful Softwares like being used by industry leading companies like TATA , Rolls Royce (uses Creo),  SIEMENS uses Siemens NX.  Autodesk Inventor is also a good option used by companies like Crompton Greaves.

Fusion 360 is however a newbie in the market being used by startup companies, but its not that powerful to tradtional CAD softwares. Overall it's nice software.

So basically it depends upon the company which you are targeting.

Let's come to CAE software ...however all softwares are equally nice and powerful. But Still you want  nice recommendation  or wanna know the balanced one and most used ....and that's ANSYS

But tbh All Softwares are famous for its specific capabilities, so it's quite nonsense to compare all. Its all up to your need , which softwares fits in the best, choose that one.

My personal Recommendation to Students and newbie in the design field:- Learn these three AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Ansys as at least as you have covered all categories.  Rest you can learn all other softwares as much as you can or specific to your need. Because there is no one stop solution to be a great Design Engineer. The more skills you have, the more you will grow.
